So glad to be indoors today. Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph. The cats are snoozing away on fleece blankets.I'm reviewing a few soon to be read books (but I'm saving the Vox authors for a more exclusive, special post). Here are the new books I'll be reading over a snowman mug of hot chocolate:
Cook's Tour: The sexy author Bourdain wrote this a while ago. Travel, hot food and adventure. What more could a woman want?
Wind-up Bird Chronicles: (Thanks, Steve)! A Japanese man goes searching for his wife's cat and winds up in an underworld with strange characters. That's all I know about the plot. Sounds fun.
The Villain's Guide to Better Living: Funny story, I actually bought this for my sister but my bf thought it was too dark and weird to give to a family member. Now I'm stuck with it. Maybe I can give it to my friend Bones, she has the same humor noir that I do.
Princeton Encyclopedia of Birds: Yaaaaaaaaaaay!! I mean, that's nice. I now have both editions (mammal and bird). I can't say enough about this series. Buy them.

What a great book....this is another one of those modern day romance chic novels but it isn't the typical Susan Elizabeth Phillips book. This isn't the typical boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl and they live happily ever after.....there is a little more than that in this book. And even as a surprise some of the characters from Match Me If You Can have reappeared in this book as well.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips did it again and I would have to say this is one of my favorites from her.
Enjoy!!!!
Happy reading!!!!
Susan Elizabeth Phillips did it again....This is another modern day romance novel (like most of the books that I read). Much like most modern day romance novels, you can pretty much predict the ending from the first few pages...however, like most all of Susan Elizabeth Phillips' books, it's the well written story line that holds your attention and this one is no different.
Enjoy!
Happy Reading....

“Life is too short to read bad books.” I’d always heard that, but I still read books through until the end no matter how bad they were because I had this sense of obligation. That is, until this week when I tried (really tried) to read a book that is utterly boring and unrealistic. I had to stop reading.
Do you read everything all the way through or do you feel life really is too short to read bad books?
I've almost always completed books that I've started. Maybe because I usually read books that have been well-reviewed or maybe because I'm generally an optimist and that even after a slow start I hope that it might get better, or maybe I have a stick-to-it-iveness that says if you're going to start something you might as well finish it.
Speaking of of finishing it, that does remind me of one of the few books I didn't finish -- "IT" from Stephen King. Clocking in at over a thousand pages and at the apex of his drug-addled, no-one-will-edit-him 80s long windedness (Steve: more isn't always better) -- I plodded along in this for about 400 pages and then said, "No mas!"
Oddly, I know several people for whom this book was one of their favorites, but I couldn't stand IT.
Riley has threatened Murphy with arrest if he doesn’t back off the investigation, but it’s Riley who feels handcuffed by Kye’s lupine charm. Torn between her vamp and wolf natures, between her love for Quinn and her hots for Kye, Riley knows she’s courting danger and indulging the deadliest desires. For her hunt through the supernatural underworld will bring her face-to-face with what lurks in a darkness where even monsters fear to tread.
I have been so busy with everything else going on, I haven't been reading near as much as I used to. I did read My Sisters Keeper and it was a great book.
This book highlights the true bond between sisters even though one is constantly out shinning the other one.
And as always....Jodi Picoult grabs your attention from page one and keeps it throughout the entire novel.
Enjoy!
Happy Reading!
